Gallery500 is excited to co-host the ONE DAYTONA Art Festival with ONE DAYTONA for the fifth year on April 6-7, 2024. We have continued many of the iconic elements of the festival, including over 130 fine artists and craft artisans, live music, a kid’s zone and more. New this year, we have added several unique art focused elements to add to an amazing weekend of art. We are honored to continue to support art in our community, through donations to Volusia County Public Schools’ Visual Arts Programs and, new this year, to Daytona State College.
New this year, Gallery500 will host conservationist and world-renowned wildlife artist Guy Harvey. We will feature the artist’s work, highlighting original paintings, limited edition giclees in addition to books, paper prints and more, throughout the weekend. Harvey is most well-known for his unique depictions of ocean life, influenced by his experiences free diving. Through this unique perspective, he can capture an up close and personal first-hand view of his subjects. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist on Saturday, April 6th from 11 am – 1 pm at Gallery500.
Another new aspect to the Art Festival is the mural competition. Six muralists will create original large scale works of art, on a six-foot tall by 8 foot wide wall. Guests are invited to watch the artists paint and vote for their favorites. Participating artists include Lido Arts (Lydia Ritter), East Mental, Katt Kelly, Tracie Harris Thompson, Tiff Urquhart, and EJ Nieves. First, Second and Viewer’s choice awards will be announced Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 4:30 pm. To vote for your favorite, visit the Welcome Tent during the Art Festival.
Of course, Gallery500 will continue to feature live art at the gallery. After Guy Harvey’s appearance on Saturday, guests will be able to watch Andres Montenegro create unique pottery and Thomas Arvid paint one of his prestigious original wine paintings. Plus, form 1 pm – 4 pm, Obviously Desserts will set up at Gallery500 and offer homemade desserts to guests for purchase. Sunday, guests will be able to view Katherine Knapik work on a new watercolor, Andres Montenegro creating using his pottery wheel and Thomas Arvid paint a new original oil.
On Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 12 pm – 3 pm, guests will have the unique opportunity to view artists work live as they during a figure drawing class at Gallery500. The artists will be inspired by their live model and sketch live. Join us to be a part of this unique experience. Listen to Classern Quartet, on stage in Victory Circle of ONE DAYTONA and watch these masterpieces come to life.
Not only is the ONE DAYTONA Art Festival a juried show (judges award monetary awards to a selection of winning artists), but the event supports local art in our community. Daytona Beach and Central Florida has such a strong art community. We hope to promote this community and aid in continually growth. The Art Festival will announce the winning artists and present donations to Volusia County Public Schools in support of the visual arts as well as Daytona State College arts programs. The ONE DAYTONA Art Festival is Saturday, April 6, 2024 and Sunday April 7, 2024 from 10 am – 5 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
